April 29, 2018 - Kates Follows USMTS to the Lonestar State
1Adam Kates made the trip to West Texas Raceway (Lubbock, Texas) on Friday evening returning with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). Dropping one spot in his 8-lap heat, Kates logged a 5th place finish transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top-4 into the opening night feature, Adam grabbed the 4th and final transfer spot. With $3,000 on the line, Adam improved four spots reeling in a 16th place finish.

On Saturday night with 42 cars on hand at Route 66 Motor Speedway (Amarillo, Texas) for the 9th annual Amarillo Ambush, Kates followed up a 6th place finish in his heat with a 4th place finish in his B-Main. Slated to roll off 20th for the feature, Adam was scratch from the 40-lap event.

Closing out the three-day stint with the USMTS, Kates stopped at Enid Speedway (Enid, Oklahoma) on Sunday for the 2nd annual Oklahoma Spring Nationals. Losing five spots in his heat, Adam recorded a 6th place finish. Needing to place in the Top-4 in his B-Main, Kates scored a 4th place finish positioning him 19th on the starting grid for the $2,500-to-win A-Main. Passing five cars in the 40-lapper, Adam Kates reeled in a 14th place outing.

April 22, 2018 - Adam Kates Attends Short Track Shootout at SNMS
1Friday evening brought Adam Kates to Southern New Mexico Speedway (Las Cruces, New Mexico) for the annual Short Track Shootout. Drawing 53 cars for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned weekend, Kates jumped up three spots in his heat race to place 4th. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature, Adam logged a 12th place outing.

1The following night, Adam posted a 4th place finish in his heat giving him one final shot at the A-Main with a B-Main appearance. Sending the Top-5 into the show, Kates slipped back to a 13th place finish.  

1Wrapping up the Short Track Shootout on Sunday, Kates followed up a 4th place finish in his heat with a 2nd place finish in his B-Main behind Johnny Scott. Earning the 15th-starting position for the $3,000-to-win A-Main, Adam was an early retiree on lap-9 while being credited with a 26th place outing. (Jim Rosas photo)

April 14, 2018 - Kates Begins King of America VIII at Humboldt
1Adam Kates made the trek to Canyon Speedway Park (Peoria, Arizona) on Friday night for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) double-header. Gaining one spot in his heat race, Kates logged a 6th place finish transferring him into the B-Main. Failing to place in the Top-5, Adam was granted a provisional into the opening night feature. Starting in 23rd, Adam Kates was credited with a 22nd place outing after retiring early from the A-Main on lap-14.

On Saturday night for the $3,375 top prize, Kates followed up an 8th place finish in his heat with a 6th place finish in his consolation event. Relying on the use of a provisional to make the show, Adam improved ten spots in the 35-lapper to place 15th.
