February 27th, 2016 - Ben Competes in Cajun Clash at Ark-La-Tex
1Making the third stop of the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental, Ben Kates was one of sixty-five entries signed in on Thursday night at to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana). After scoring a 2nd place spot in his heat, Kates transferred into the B-Main for another shot at the feature. Starting on the front row, Ben came in contact with another competitor resulting in an 18th place outing. Receiving a provisional into the $2,000-to-win A-Main, Ben Kates gained five spots registering a 21st place finish.

1Returning on Saturday for the second night of 5th Annual Cajun Clash, Ben gained four spots in his heat but transferred into the B-Main after placing 5th. Transferring the top three into the $3,000-to-win main event, Kates fell two positions short with another 5th place outing.

Completing the three-day stint at Ark-La-Tex Speedway on Saturday night, Ben logged a 6th place finish in his heat giving him one more chance at the feature with a B-Main appearance. Battling for a transfer spot into the $4,000-to-win A-Main, Ben Kates fell three spots short of a transfer position with a 6th place outing.

February 20th, 2016 - Kates Lands Top Five Finish on Saturday
1Continuing on with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing and Rental, Ben Kates traveled to Heart O’ Texas Speedway (Elm Mott, Texas) on Thursday for night one of the 7th Annual Day Motor Sports Texas Spring Nationals. Coming from 5th in his heat, Kates grabbed a transfer spot into the A-Main with a 3rd place heat finish. Starting in 16th for the $2,000-to-win A-Main, Ben improved five spots recording an 11th place outing.

After failing to hit a transfer spot in his heat on Friday night with a 5th place outing, Ben transferred into the B-Main for another shot at the $3,000-to-win feature. Needing a 4th place spot or better, Kates scored a 3rd place finish. Coming from 21st in the 45-lap affair, Ben Kates stormed through the field eleven position to record a solid 10th place spot.

Wrapping up the three-day USMTS stint at Heart O’ Texas Speedway on Saturday night, Ben Kates scored a heat race win from the 2nd place starting spot. Earning a 4th place starting position for the $4,000-to-win A-Main, Kates held his spot for all 50 laps notching a 4th place finish behind Zack VanderBeek, Kyle Strickler, and Johnny Scott with Stormy Scott coming in 5th. February 13th, 2016 - Ben Kates Posts Top Five Finsh in Season Debut
1 Kicking off the 2016 season, Ben Kates made the trip to Shady Oaks Speedway (Goliad, Texas) on Thursday night for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) opener. Competing in a field of thirty Open Wheel Modifieds, Kates gained two spots in his heat capturing an 8-lap victory. Starting on the 7th row for the $2,000-to-win A-Main, Ben worked his way through the field nine positions scoring a 5th place finish behind Rodney Sanders, Jason Hughes, Cade Dillard, and Joe Duvall.

Returning for the second night of USMTS action, Ben Kates logged a 7th place finish in his heat transferring him into the B-Main for one last shot at the feature. Transferring the top five, Kates grabbed a 3rd place outing sending him into the $3,000-to-win A-Main with a 10th row starting spot. Improving one spot in the 35-lap affair, Ben recorded a 18th place outing.

On Sunday in a field of thirty-three USMTS Modifieds, Ben Kates logged a 7th place outing in his heat transferring him into the B-Main. Needing a 5th place finish or better to make the show, Kates had to rely on the use of a provisional to make the A-Main after placing 6th in his consolation event, Starting in 23rd for the 40-lap feature, Ben gained four spots recording a 19th place outing.
