| October 18th, 2014 - Ben Kates Enters Doubleheader in Missouri |
 Kates Motorsports made the trip to Scotland County Speedway (Memphis, Missouri) over the weekend to compete in the annual Memphis Fall Nationals.
Friday night's program was highlighted by a $1,000-to-win, preliminary feature. A melee in heat race action left Kates to run a b-main, where he raced into the final transfer position to earn the 24th starting position for the main event. Despite starting at the back of the pack, Ben mounted a great charge to the front to register a solid seventh place finish at the checkered flag. D&M Racing Photography Kates advanced from the ninth starting position to finish sixth in his heat race on Saturday evening but, with only the top five finishers advancing to the main event he would once again have to run a b-main. A solid performance in his b-main earned Ben the 20th starting spot on the feature grid. He went on to advance to a thirteenth place finish in the final rundown. |
| October 11th, 2014 - Kates Motorsports Travel to Lee County Speedway |
 With unfavorable weather forecasted for the annual Fall Nationals at RPM Speedway (Hays, Kansas), the team made the decision to travel to Lee County Speedway (Donnellson, Iowa) for a double header of racing action.
The opening round of the 3rd Annual Fall Extravaganza was contested on Friday night with a $1,000-to-win program. A seventh to fifth run in his heat race left Kates short of locking into the feature and he would have to run a b-main. He later won his b-main before going on to race his way to a twelfth place finish in the main event. Another $1,000 winner's check was posted on Saturday evening, as Kates looked to improve on his opening night performance. A convincing charge from seventh to fourth in his heat race earned Ben the sixth starting spot in the finale. He was running in the top five when he jumped the cushion, and ultimately retired to a disappointing 23rd place finish. Full results from the weekend are available at www.LeeCountySpeedway.com |
| October 3rd, 2014 - Kates Enters USRA National Championships |
 Ben Kates entered the opening round of the inaugural United States Racing Association (USRA) Nationals Championships on Wednesday evening at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas).
Forty-six USRA Open Wheel Modified registered for the preliminary event, which saw Kates start and finish sixth in his heat race. Unfortunately, Mother Nature took control shortly after heat race action, forcing the remainder of the program to be postponed to Thursday evening. What started Wednesday night continued into the morning and early afternoon Thursday, forcing officials to cancel Thursday's program. With heat races complete, the balance of Wednesday's events will now kick off Friday's festivities, followed by another complete program. With already more than four inches of rain having fell by Friday morning, and the threat of more inclement weather throughout the weekend, the team made the decision to scratch from the remainder of the program. Kates Motorsports will now prepare for the annual Fall Nationals at RPM Speedway (Hays, Kansas) October 9th-11th before heading to Carolina Speedway (Gastonia, North Carolina) the following weekend.
