July 26th, 2014 - Kates Runner-Up at Jackson County; Fifth at Boone
Ben Kates and the Kates Motorsports team traveled to Jackson County Speedway (Maquoketa, Iowa) on Thursday evening. Ben started his outing with a heat race win to lock into the feature event. In the main event Ben drove his #23k Kates Motorsports/Harris Sport Mod to his fifth runner-up finish in the last six events behind race winner, Austin Moyer. 1Action shifted to Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) on Saturday night, as twenty-eight IMCA Sport Mods converged on the 1/4 mile oval. After being involved in a heat race melee Ben was forced to run a b-main, which he won to earn the 22nd starting spot on the feature grid. Despite starting at the back of the back, Kates rocketed through aboard his #23k Kates Motorsports/Harris Sport Mod to a fifth place finish behind race winner, Michael Murphy, Anthony Onstot, Johnathon Logue, and Tara Longnecker. July 19th, 2014 - Kates Motorsports Finish Second at Lee County & Boone
1Ben Kates returned to a Lee County Speedway (Donnellson, Iowa) on Friday to battle in an IMCA Sport Mod Weekly Racing Series program. Ben drove to the win in first heat race to lock into the pole position for the feature with Kyle Hill alongside. In the main event Kates raced his way to a second place finish behind race winner, Tony Dunker. Rodger Dresden, Joey Gower, and Phillip Cossell rounded out the top five finishers. 1On Saturday night Kates Motorsports would debut their new 2015 Harris Sport Mod in a Weekly Racing Series program at Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa). Twenty-seven entries filled the pit area at the 1/4 mile oval, and Ben used a second place finish behind Tim Love in heat race action to lock into the finale. During the course of the feature Kates charged to another second place finish behind race winner, Johnathon Logue. Rounding out the top five finishers were Tim Love, Jake McBirnie, and Jerry Hinton. July 14th, 2014 - Kates Motorsports Travel to Lee County Speedway
1Kates Motorsports made a last minute decision to enter a Weekly Racing Series program on Monday evening at Lee County Speedway (Donnellson, Iowa). Twenty-one Sport Mods were on hand for the event, and a second place finish in his heat race positioned Kates starting second alongside Dakota Simmons for the main event. During the course of the feature Ben struggled to find the handle on his #23k Kates Motorsports/Harris Sport Mod, and ultimately retired to a seventeenth place finish in the final rundown. July 12th, 2014 - Kates Back in Victory Lane at Clay County Speedway
1Kates Motorsports were back in action at Beuna Vista Raceway (Alta, Iowa) on Wednesday night as seventeen IMCA Sport Mods registered for battle. Ben started his outing with sixth place finish in heat race action, earning him the eleventh starting spot on the feature grid. Kates was involved in a melee on the opening lap of the main event, sending him to the tail of the field. He charged back to sixth before contact from another competitor sent him spinning. On Thursday night action shifted to Clay County Fairgrounds Speedway (Spencer, Iowa) for a Weekly Racing Series program. Looking for redemption Kates charged to a convincing heat race win, locking him into the pole position for the finale. Ben assumed the point at the drop of the green flag and set the pace out front. The caution came out with six laps to go, bunching the field back up for a shootout to the end. Kates and eventual runner-up Zach Norgaard battled for the top spot in the closing laps, with Kates using the high side to rail to his eleventh victory of the season. 1Saturday night found the team pitted at Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa), as twenty-seven IMCA Sport Mods registered for battle. Ben used a heat race win to lock into the main event, and went to finish second in the feature event behind race winner, Jake McBirnie. July 5th, 2014 - Flat Tire Seals Kates' Fate Saturday at Boone
1Ben Kates closed out the Fourth of July weekend with a trip to Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) for an IMCA Weekly Racing Series program. Twenty-two IMCA Sport Mod competitors registered for the event, and a fourth place finish in the first heat would position Ben starting twelfth in the main event. Kates progressively worked his way to the front of the pack, and was running fourth when a flat tire on his #23k Kates Motorsports/Harris Sport Mod ended his night just five laps short of the checkered flag. July 2nd, 2014 - Mixed Bag of Results for Ben Kates in Mid-Week Events
1Ben and the Kates Motorsports team entered a pair of mid-week events to kick off the Independence Day weekend. Action got underway on Tuesday night at Algona Raceway (Algona, Iowa). Thirty Sport Mods entered the program, and a heat race incident would send Ben to a b-main where he started ninth. Kates charged from deep in the field to finish third, locking him into the nineteenth starting spot for the finale. Despite starting deep in the pack for the feature he sliced through the field to an eighth place finish in the final rundown. Full results from the event are available at www.AlgonaRaceway.com

On Wednesday night the team traveled to Buena Vista Raceway (Alta, Iowa) for a Weekly Racing Series program. Fourteen entries were on hand for the event, and a seventh to third run in heat race action positioned Ben starting sixth in the feature. During the course of the feature Kates battled amongst the top five for much of the event before crossing the finish line in fourth behind race winner, Doug Smith, Logan Scott, and Tim Rupp. Complete results from the event are available at www.BuenaVistaRaceway.com
