April 26th, 2014 - Up and Down Weekend for Kates Motorsports
It was an up and down weekend for Kates Motorsports at the team entered a pair of IMCA Weekly Racing Series events in the state of Iowa.

1The weekend opened on Friday evening at the Iowa State Fairground Speedway (Des Moines, Iowa) with ninteen entries on hand. Ben won his preliminary heat race, earning him the seventh starting position for the finale. In the main event he made his way into the top five early and battle near the front of the back before crossing the finish line in fifth behind race winner Glenn Gladson Jr., Brian Weyer, Rick Gladson, and Matt Webb. 1Saturday night saw the team returning to Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) for another Weekly Racing Series event. Kates locked into the feature event via a fifth place finish in his heat race among twenty-seven entries. In the feature mechanical issues would result in Ben retiring #23k Kates Motorsports/Harris Sport Mod early from the remainder of the event. Full results can be found at www.RaceBoone.com

April 19th, 2014 - Ben Kates Bags Fourth Victory of 2014 at Boone
Kates Motorsports set out to enter a pair of events over the weekend however, electrical issues at Iowa State Fairgrounds (Des Moines, Iowa) forced speedway officials to cancel the balance of the program shortly after hot laps.

1Saturday night found the team pitted at Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) for an IMCA Weekly Racing Series Event. An impressive field of forty-three entries filled the pit area, and Ben started his night off driving to a second place finish in the third heat race to earn the eighth starting spot in the finale. The Tonganoxie, Kansas ace took over the top spot on lap eight and drove to the victory over Cody Hennings, Justin Medler, Clinton Luellen, and Brandon Williams.

April 12th, 2014 - Kates Visits Victory Lane in Boone Frostbuster
After Mother Nature wreaked havoc on the Northern Plains over the past two weeks, Kates Motorsports was able to resume action over the weekend with a trio of events across the state of Iowa.

1The weekend got underway on Friday night as the team traveled to Hancock County Speedway (Algona, Iowa) for a Weekly Racing Series Event. Ben finished fourth in his preliminary heat race to lock into the twelfth starting spot for the main event. He would retire early from the feature to 22nd place finish in the final rundown. 1Saturday night found the team pitted at Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) for the annual Frostbuster event. Under threatening skies, Kates wasted no time getting to the front in the 20 lap main event, jumping to the lead at the drop of the green from his fourth starting position. Sprinkles began to fall during the course of the event as the yellow waved on lap thirteen. On the restart Ben easily maintained his lead out front and the final laps were completed without interruption. Kates would claim his third victory of the season, he was followed across the finish line by Doug Smith, Jon Schultz, Clint Luellen, and Tim Love. Complete results can be found at www.RaceBoone.com
